I didn’t set out to start a business. I set out to fix a problem I kept seeing everywhere in the Canadian security industry: isolation. Whether you’re a security guard on the ground, an integrator in the field, an IT lead configuring systems, or a risk manager writing the policies—we all play a part in keeping people and organizations safe. But most of us are doing it alone. Too often, security professionals don’t know where to turn for collaboration, ideas, or even basic networking—especially when they’re not part of a large, security-focused organization. We’ve built up too many silos: between physical and cyber, public and private, junior and senior, even east and west. And with IT departments increasingly becoming “the security team,” we’re losing touch with the diversity of roles and perspectives that actually make security work.
That’s why I created Canada Security Collective (CSC). A New Kind of Community for Security Professionals
CSC is a for-profit organization with a mission: to bring people together across the entire security spectrum in Canada. We’re not just for IT. Not just for consultants. Not just for industry veterans. We’re for anyone working in, around, or adjacent to security: guards, integrators, analysts, risk professionals, tech specialists, and everything in between. We have goals to host events, facilitate training, and most importantly, start conversations that should have been happening a long time ago. We want to bridge the gap between industries, titles, experience levels, and regions. Because the truth is, none of us are experts in everything—but together, we can get a lot closer.
I built CSC to be the group I wish I’d had access to earlier in my career—open, collaborative, and grounded in the real-world needs of security professionals in Canada. But I don’t want this to be just my vision. I want to hear from you. What’s missing in our industry? What would help you do your job better? What do you wish existed—but doesn’t yet? My goal is for CSC to be the people’s group—something shaped not just by me, but by all of us. Whether you're just starting out or decades into your career, if you’re working to keep people, data, or infrastructure safe in Canada, CSC is for you. So let’s connect. Let’s talk. Let’s build something better—together.
