Most people in the industry know me as someone who builds — events, relationships, systems, momentum. But very few know where that drive came from, or what it looked like early on.
A few months ago, I took a leap — not just professionally, but personally. I left behind titles, logos, and comfort zones to build something rooted in connection, clarity, and shared purpose.
Sharing this story makes me nervous. It’s personal. It’s vulnerable. But it’s also real. I know I’m not the only one who’s built something from uncertainty, or asked “Who am I to lead?” and kept going anyway. It’s about starting over with a 6 year old and a car full of everything I owned.. It’s about not seeing myself in the rooms I walked into — and showing up anyway. It’s about the people who taught me, challenged me, and made space for me to grow. And it’s about why I built Canada Security Collective, and what I hope it can become.
I’ve had my dream jobs. I’ve lived my dream life. That’s what makes this chapter so different — it’s not about chasing milestones. It’s about creating space for others to grow, lead, and belong.
If you read it, thank you. If you see yourself in any part of it, I hope it reminds you that you’re not alone — and that you don’t have to wait until you feel ready.
